SummaCare to move corporate offices to Akron's East End neighborhood (3/6/2017)

SummaCare will move its corporate offices to Akron's East End neighborhood into the space that formerly housed the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company headquarters.

The move is expected to begin in late summer, with all 300 employees in their new offices in November.

SummaCare, whose first client 30 years ago was Goodyear, signed the lease March 2. The insurer had been located in downtown Akron on North Main Street for the past 17 years.

Akron's East End adds infrastructure, streetscape improvements 

A $5.5 million project to improve a half-mile streets cape along East Market Street in Akron has been completed.

The streets cape, a main through-way and centerpiece of Akron's East End, is a 1.4 million-square-foot, mixed-use redevelopment at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. campus.

Nearly 10 Years in the Making, Goodyear's Old Akron Headquarters is Ready to Rock

The mostly-abandoned site of the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber headquarters on Akron’s east side is starting to come back to life.

Last weekend, a new concert venue opened in the 90-year-old Goodyear Theater with two sold-out concerts featuring rock acts The Smashing Pumpkins and Gavin DeGraw. Developer Stu Lichter says it’s just the beginning. His California company, Industrial Realty Group, is behind that and about a half dozen other major revitalization projects at old factories in Northeast Ohio.

Where the Rubber Meets the Headquarters

Tire maker Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co is scheduled to cut the ribbon Thursday on a glassy new headquarters in Akron, Ohio, after nearly a century at a sprawling complex about a half-mile away.
